Whats is endodontics?
Endodontics deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dental pulp infections. Dental infections can occur following a voluminous or long-lasting decay process. They can also occur due to occlusal trauma.
What is root canal?
Inside the tooth, under the enamel and dentin is the dental pulp which consists of blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue. The dental pulp can become infected if there is a large cavity that allows bacteria to penetrate into the pulp chamber. Root canal treatment is one of the most common procedures performed in dentistry, and consists in removing bacteria from the infected canal, in order to save the tooth and prevent its re-infection.
When is root canal recommended?
Endodontic treatment is necessary when bacteria from inside the oral cavity invade the dental pulp. At CEC Dental Clinic, root canal treatments are performed using an endodontic microscope. It allows the removal of all the affected tissue and the cleaning of the canals with the highest precision, having a success rate of over 90%.
